VALUE CHECK - AUGUST 30, 2007
Stock market volatility has increased significantly over the past two months. This is largely due to rising investor fears relating to U.S. sub-prime mortgages and Canadian asset-backed commercial paper.  As a result of this financial uncertainty, many investors have simply stepped away from the marketplace and common share prices have drifted lower.  Ultimately, they have created a virtual "buyer's boycott".  This reaction, we believe, will produce opportunities for astute and patient stock pickers who discover that many investors in their fearful rush for liquidity, have "thrown the baby out with the bathwater".
