The investment business is fraught with extreme
seasonality. There are busy periods such as a week or two after New Years
and Labour Day as investment managers set out revitalized strategies for new
quarters. There are also very slow times such as the Christmas holidays,
Easter, the July-August summer break and the Friday before a long holiday
weekend.
As investors, it is important to be aware of such
occasions and to take advantage of the opportunities that seasonality
brings. For instance, with the "slow" summer holidays
approaching, we believe, this is an excellent time to discard investment
non-performers and to do serious investment research and analysis during this
non-frenetic period. |
